Yesterday, Tim rocked up to Ravenshoe State School, Queensland, to present them with their Yamaha Great Start Grant and to perform for them in-school!

In February, Tim announced this year’s competition for the Yamaha Great Start Grant, with the prize including 34 brand new Yamaha instruments, specialist training to help to get a school band program going, AND an in-school concert with Tim.
Ravenshoe State School in Tablelands, Queensland, Australia won the grant and yesterday Tim rocked up to the school to present the prize and perform for them.

Ravenshoe are excited to now be able to get a band started and to develop the music program at the school.

It’s moments like that that create impassioned critical thinkers and musicians of the future; it sounds like it will be a day those kids (and staff!) will remember for a long time. I can’t wait to see Tim in concert again over in the UK in November!

Tim is a true star. Not just because of his musical genius, but also because of how patient, kind and generous he was with his time at our school last night. He smiled through hundreds of photos with the kids ( and yes, we admit it, the staff and school community too) and never once looked like it was a chore for him. The kids didn’t stop talking about it all day today and some of the girls have told me they will never wash their arms again where Tim autographed them.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart,Tim – you and Yamaha have proven to the students of Ravenshoe State School P-12 that there are people out there who do care and who are prepared to give them a go. It was truly a heart warming and inspiring evening!
