In early September this year Tim embarks on an “In Conversation” mini-tour of England, talking about his first non-fiction book: “You Don’t Have To Have A Dream (Advice for the Incrementally Ambitious)”
Tim: “Hello my English friends: I am genuinely stoked to announce this lovely little Book Tour in early September. It’ll just be me and a smart, charming facilitator/interviewer chatting about the ideas in You Don’t Have To Have A Dream, and answering some of your questions. Can’t wait!”
In conversation with special guest interviewers*, Tim will share his inimitable thoughts and advice on life, art, success, kindness, love and thriving in a meaningless universe. Drawing from his legendary university commencement addresses, Tim’s rallying cry for creativity, critical thinking, and compassion in our daily lives will touch the science-loving reality-romantic in all of us.
*Special Guest Interviewers: Dr. Sian Williams in Manchester, Helen Lewis in Brighton and Eva Wiseman in London.
Tim: “Although I’m a bit nervous to be sitting on a stage without a piano to sugar the pill of my opinions with, I’m really excited to dig deeper into some of the ideas I explore in this book. And, knowing the calibre of my interlocutors and my audiences, I’m sure the chat will push out beyond just those!”

Tim: “Australasian compadres: Chuffed here to announce a wee Aus/NZ Book Tour in late Sept / early Oct. It’ll just be me and a lovely, smart facilitator/interviewer sitting* on chairs and chatting about the ideas in You Don’t Have To Have A Dream, and answering some of your questions. *I might stand up if I feel strongly about something.”

An Unfunny* Evening With Tim Minchin And His Piano
USA and Canada: The tour you’ve been clamouring for! Tim’s Unfunny* shows sold out across the UK and Australia… and he’ll be playing a 13-city North American Unfunny* tour this August, kicking off 3rd August 2024 in Vancouver, with the final show 25th August in New York.
Tim: “It has been over a decade since I played solo in the States, and I’m SO fkn excited to be back. Nothing compares to US audiences.”
The setlist will be fluid and the shows will have more of an unplanned intimate ‘evening with’ vibe as Tim chats about his songwriting and performs songs drawn from his 2020 studio album, Apart Together, his musicals, Matilda and Groundhog Day, his TV and film writing and from his early song-writing days around the turn of the century.

Tim wrote a song for the new TV mini series Eric which was released on Netflix last month.
Set in 1980s New York, the six part series drama, written by Abi Morgan, stars Benedict Cumberbatch as puppeteer Vincent, the creative genius behind a Sesame Street-esque show called Good Day Sunshine. When his nine year old son Edgar goes missing, Vincent becomes convinced that if he brings to life the new puppet Edgar had been inventing for the show – Eric – his son will come home. Eric, a seven foot tall muppet invisible to others, follows Vincent around…

Ooh look! I did a book!
“You Don’t Have To Have a Dream (Advice For The Incrementally Ambitious)” is a gorgeously-bound collection of the 3 Occasional Addresses I’ve made at Universities that have given me Floppyhat Funtimes.
I’ve written some additional ponderous intros and I’m recording the audio book version and I’m going to sign a heap of the hard copies. Gorgeous illustrations by Andrew Rae and designed by Dave Brown.
Out in September in the UK and Australia. (US next year, sorry!) Pre-order available now here.
Stoked about this project. Xxx
