An Unfunny* Evening With Tim Minchin And His Piano
USA and Canada: The tour you’ve been clamouring for! Tim’s Unfunny* shows sold out across the UK and Australia… and he’ll be playing a 13-city North American Unfunny* tour this August, kicking off 3rd August 2024 in Vancouver, with the final show 25th August in New York.
Tim: “It has been over a decade since I played solo in the States, and I’m SO fkn excited to be back. Nothing compares to US audiences.”
The setlist will be fluid and the shows will have more of an unplanned intimate ‘evening with’ vibe as Tim chats about his songwriting and performs songs drawn from his 2020 studio album, Apart Together, his musicals, Matilda and Groundhog Day, his TV and film writing and from his early song-writing days around the turn of the century.

Tim!!! When are you going to bring civilization to Memphis, TN, USA? We surely do need YOUR not-so-common-sense sense and an even greater array of musical performance here! +1 (spouse) introduced me to your music when I was deathly ill, and has spent more time over the past fifteen years trying to buoy my spirits that he’s neglected much of what makes *him* whole. I’d be so willing to mask up and risk it just to see him so delighted. Come visit – soon!

*Can I say that “White Wine in the Sun” causes me to, every single time I hear it, stop dead in my tracks, sit, and deeply appreciate the losses and gains in our families all the more? I’m not shy that I’ve never been able – not once – to sing the whole thing along with you for the tears, both happy and sad. We’ll be seeing Tim on Tuesday in Toronto and we can’t be more excited! We live in the middle of nowhere Canada (Saskatchewan for those who do know), summer plans included getting to southern Ontario to visit grandkids and going to France check in on again and ailing parents (in law) . . . we were putting off pulling plans together until daughter in southern Ont sent us the announcement of this tour with “Any chance you can be in Toronto on August 20?” and the chance to see TM in TO rather than travelling halfway around the world (something we’ve looked into!) brought the summer into focus!
It’s been fun telling people we’re going to the #1 practically only ever dreamt of concert and having almost everyone give a blank stare when it’s named (there was 1 guy from Australia who was excited for us!) I’ve been considering setting up a page with something like top ten Tim videos to give people an entry point but have mostly just spelled his name, tailoring recommendations to the audience, frequently the Confirmation Bias Rant and the 9 Life Lessons WMA Commencement, mentioning Matilda and 4 Tonys and saying just about any other song (are there “misses”? Not for me!) or full concert with a language warning for “The Pope Song” (which I figure makes them go to that first!)

We went to your show in Austin last night and it was absolutely phenomenal. My husband Mike (a statistician) and I (generally a data junkie) got married about 11 years ago and we joked at the time that our wedding song would be If I Didn’t Have You (in fact, since he was almost an hour late to the wedding, I did consider for a moment that someone else would do). We didn’t have a traditional wedding and didn’t have a wedding song or a first dance, but when people ask about our wedding, we always explain why that would have been the perfect choice.
Last year he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a nasty brain cancer that normally kills people pretty quickly (5 year survival rate is in the 20% range, most folks don’t get through 18 months after diagnosis). While it’s considered terminal, we’re lucky that he’s doing extremely well right now in treatment and we’re confident he’ll outlast the 18-month death knell – that didn’t stop me from bawling like a baby when you sang You Grew On Me and Apart Together.
I just wanted to tell you that your performance was amazing and so meaningful to use, and we felt so lucky that we got to see you on tour and while Mike was still well enough to enjoy it. Please come back to Austin – we love you when you’re funny, we love you when you’re unfunny, we just love you!

My sister, Nancy Hanlon, and I will be attending the Minneapolis show together. This is super meaningful for us as 3 years ago I didn’t know she existed! She was given up for adoption 2 years before I was born. We are both senior citizens whose siblings and parents have passed so it feels miraculous that she found me and we are attending my favorite artist’s show together! Bringing my hanky as I’m sure I will cry a bit! I’m over the moon excited!

Got my tickets for NYC. My wife and 14 year old son are willing to go, even though they say I have an unhealthy obsession with Tim. I’m quite sure they will develop this obsession too, or I will have to beat them with sacks of comedy oranges.
