TweetLast night Tim performed at the Australia Day Foundation 2011 Gala Dinner, at Australia House and found himself presented with an award:
Young Australian Achiever of the Year in the UK
“To have achieved so much in his career at a young age is perhaps not surprising given Tim Minchin’s many talents and his focus. The Foundation awards great talent and in recognition of his extraordinary accomplishments to date the Australia Day Foundation consider Tim Minchin a worthy recipient of the 2011 Young Australian Achiever of the year in the UK award”, said Philip Aiken, Chairman of the Australia Day Foundation.
The Australia Day Foundation, gathers Australians in the UK to celebrate Australia’s national day, which falls on 26 January. This award has been presented annually since 2005. Previous recipients are Harry Kewell, Shane Osborn, Joe Roff, Chloe Chick, Matt Wilkin and Dr Ainsley Newson.
Also recognised and honoured last night were goldsmith Stuart Devlin who was awarded Australian of the Year in the UK and Honorary Australian of the Year went to former British High Commissioner to Australia, Lord Alastair Goodlad.
Congratulations Tim!

Many congratulations on your award, I was present at the gala dinner and enjoyed the evening very much. I understand that you were born in Northampton, UK, was that at the Barrett Maternity at Northampton General Hospital? It is their 75th anniversary this year, drop in and visit, we would love to see you, you will be in good company too, the latest Dr Who was born there also.

As someone almost twice your age I agree with the Aus. Day foundation; you are most certainly young and a great choice for the award.
Congratulations! from Bundanoon Australia.

I believe one is only as the person (s)he is feeling – if he can keep up with the kids then he’s young :)
Congratulations to the cheeky bugger!

Congratulations TIm :) I am a big fan and have especially enjoyed the last 12 months, ignore the fuckers picking on the “young” part of the award I saw you in Stratford close up Sunday and thought you looked deceptively young ;)

Congrats, Tim! And you know, 35 is extremely young to someone who’s been on the other side of it for a while.
Jamey on 23rd of January 2011
I think your only as young as you feel and in all fairness I havent seen anyone perform with as much energy as Mr Minchin does .. more energy than most 22 year olds!! Congratulations though sir, us British do love ya! x

As an Australian I was unaware that there was a Young Australian Achiever of the year in the U.K award. Young Australian of the year yes, but this one? Its rather specific don’t you think. Anyway, Tim deserves every accolade he gets.
Congratulations Tim, your a bloody genius.
